Laura Wasser | Fierce Female

Founder & CEO, It's Over Easy

There aren’t many lawyers who make it into the pages of Vogue or Vanity Fair.

When you think GirlBoss Rally, the line up of guest speakers is usually women talking about their journey to build brands and businesses. Yet, Laura Wasser has been there, done that and more. From being featured on Bloomberg to gracing the pages of the Wall Street Journal, Laura is no typical attorney.

Laura has represented celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Ryan Reynolds, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder. Author of a New York Times bestseller and founder of a new business called It's Over Easy, Laura makes it her mission to simplify one of life's scariest experiences, divorce.

As she reminds us while on set "Families come in all shapes and sizes, therefore the solutions people need will be just as diverse.

Defying the stereotype of lawyers with serious grimaces, when you first meet Laura you’re greeted with her larger than life smile. She radiates joy in the most self-assured and calm manner imaginable.

Accessories play a key role in her courtroom life. Laura rocks her lucky ear cuff, layers of bangles with her children's names on them and a carpe diem ring as daily reminders to feel powerful.

Heading into summer this Fierce Female is growing the impact of It's Over Easy. She's making it affordable and accessible for women (and men) to have the support they need in the pursuit of freedom.

TAJ: What's your favorite F word?

Laura: “Family. My whole life has been built around it. Protecting family at all costs no matter what your family dynamic looks like.”

TAJ: What kind of rules have you broken?

Laura: “Having two children and not being married to either of their dads, yet having a very functional family. We all have each other’s back and everyone gets along. We don’t look or sound like the typical family but we make it work for us. We create a community of people that support us.”

TAJ: What rules need to be broken next?

Laura: “Do away with rules. Families come in so many shapes and sizes, and all have different needs. There’s no one solution for how it should work. Do what works for you and make those your rules."

TAJ: What are you the most excited about for your new business, It’s Over Easy?

Laura: “It evens the playing field and allows people who might not have the means to divorce through traditional channels. It's giving people the opportunity to build the family dynamic they need and start over. It takes a village and we make sure people have a support system throughout the process.”

Laura's Junkie Confession:

"I'm a total clothes & accessories Junkie."
